Revision Rhinoplasty FAQs

If you’ve had rhinoplasty, also known as a nose job, you probably love the results. But what if the rhinoplasty doesn’t turn out as you expected? There is a procedure known as revision rhinoplasty which can help you achieve the results you want. Dr. Stephen Pincus, a facial plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills, CA, provides a wide range of plastic surgery services, including revision rhinoplasty.

What You Need To Know About Revision Rhinoplasty

If you are considering revision rhinoplasty, you may have a few questions. These are some of the most commonly asked questions and answers about revision rhinoplasty:

How can revision rhinoplasty help me?

Revision rhinoplasty, also known as secondary rhinoplasty, can correct asymmetry and other aesthetic issues caused by a previous rhinoplasty.

How soon can I have a revision rhinoplasty after the first rhinoplasty procedure?

You should wait at least 6 months after your first rhinoplasty. This gives you time for complete healing and reduction of swelling. The 6-month waiting period allows any aesthetic or structural issues to fully develop.

What kind of sedation is used for revision rhinoplasty?

Your doctor may recommend general anesthesia, in which you are totally asleep, or IV sedation, which provides twilight sleep.

What happens during recovery after revision rhinoplasty?

After your revision rhinoplasty, some swelling and bruising around your eyes and your nose are normal. Post-operative pain can be managed with pain medication prescribed by your plastic surgeon. You should be able to resume your work schedule after the first week.

What do I need to do at home after surgery?

Our plastic surgeon will provide complete instructions on home care after surgery. Typically, you may need to use a nasal saline spray to keep nasal passages moist and prevent irritation. You may also need to wear an internal or external nasal splint to cushion, support, and protect the revision rhinoplasty area while during healing.
